What is it?
-This is not a mass participation event-
This is a Solo Endurance Challenge like nothing you will have heard of or seen before. In August 2015 I will attempt to complete 7 Iron Distance Triathlons in 7 Consecutive Days from Lands End to John O’Groats
An Iron Triathlon sometimes referred to as an Ultra Triathlon (equivalent to an IRONMAN ™) consists
• 2.4 Mile Swim
• 112 Mile Bike Ride
• 26.2 Mile Run (A Marathon)
This equates to a total distance of 980.6 miles (140.6 miles PER DAY) in 7 consecutive days travelling the full length of the UK. Stopping only to fuel up and sleep maybe for just a few short hours each night.
This is the first time this challenge has ever been attempted!

The main challenge will commence on 17th August 2015 at Lands End, UK
In 2004 I had a back operation which, 5 years later proved to have not worked too well. My lifestyle probably contributed towards this. I smoked, ate and drank too much and didn’t exercise at all. However, when I was told by a consultant to have second operation I decided it was time to stop being lazy and foolish and to get up off my backside and get myself fit. I gave up smoking, cut down on alcohol and poor nutrition and started running and cycling. For all I experienced bouts of back pain I found it was more likely to come about when I stopped exercising for more than 2 or 3 days hence my mantra ‘Strength in Movement’.
So after many smaller challenges including several sprint and Olympic distance triathlons I concluded that I was ready to realise an ambition that I have always had; to be the first to do something big! The result? #7days7irons
“I hope that my journey inspires YOU to get up, get out, take life by the scruff of the neck and do something amazing! I’m not suggesting something as challenging as #7days7irons necessarily. But do give yourself a challenge and keep raising the bar, going further, getting faster, becoming fitter and healthier. We all have it in us. Sometimes you just need to dig deep and be your own inspiration!” – Jason Roberts, #7days7irons
