30 Mile Run was a Mental Battle

This is me around half way into a 30 mile run today. It doesn’t quite convey how I was feeling at the end and I didn’t have enough energy or momentum to even take a post workout selfie!

This was the longest run I had done in some time. The hamstring injury on my left leg meant ┬áthat I had taken some time out of running for rehabilitation and therapy. Getting back into it today was very tough going indeed. Tendons and muscles pinging all over the place meant that I had some painful miles to dig in to. But I did it. I’m not impressed or happy with my time and I think I may still hurt tomorrow.

One positive I’ll take out of today is that my mental game held up. For all the pain had the opportunity to really punish me I kept tuning out the pain and negative thoughts and turning them around. Great practice for the challenge in August.

Nice one Jason – good to go over the mileage you’ll be doing each day. 30 miles is a monster run.

You’re not wrong mate. A massive jump from 26! Still better to push myself over the limit now to feel what really painful feels like.
